The cover (high grade excellent condition with only slight flaws, see enlargeable pictures), magazine with rules attached (unmarked new condition except for slight creasing in the border area to the pages at the upper right corner), counters (excellent condition, slight discoloration, mounted, see notes below), full-color 28"x22" Bastogne map (new condition, though it does have creases caused by the folding process), black and white 16.5"x11" Anzio Beachhead map (high grade excellent condition with only slight creasing) and four charts (high grade excellent condition, except for one chart in excellent condition with slight aging and slight edge creasing) are all in excellent to new condition.  Note this S&T was published in the days when S&T counters were done on thin card stock sheets. A very rare S&T issue in high quality condition!

This S&T was from the time before the magazine used cardboard counters.  The counters were originally printed on paper sheets and gamers advised to mount them on cardboard.  This set has been mounted.  The green (US) counters were mounted on a cardboard whose thickness is what later became the standard for S&T.  The blue (German) counters were mounted on a thinner stock cardboard and are a bit harder to handle.  The blank blue counters (not necessary for game play), are missing, but if a note is sent with your payment to make replacements for them, the replacements will be made.  The second picture of the green counters show the US Anzio counters with two missing counters (both counters were later found).  The first picture of the green counters shows the high quality replacement 3-8 made for a missing 3-8.

The bonus includes game reviews and game sessions, and a bit more.  And to help you reconstruct SPI history, the bonus includes Jim (the SPI Guru Supreme) Dunnigan's book The Complete Wargames Handbook plus interviews of Sir James.  Learn the art of wargaming and wargaming design from the master himself!  Some to all of the bonus will be sent by email upon shipping your purchase.  All bonus and extras material are available for sale separately if requested.

Bastogne was Jim Dunnigan's first (of several) Battle of the Bulge games.  Per Dunnigan "Bastogne was an attempt to do the Bulge with max accuracy. The map was a tedious effort to create, working from Belgian government maps from the
1930s. After Bastogne I decided to emphasize playability in my Bulge designs."

Game designed by Jim Dunnigan for Bastogne and Vance von Borries & David Williams for Anzio Beachhead.  Published Jan\Feb 1970 by SPI.
