The huge bonus is essential for anyone wishing to play the game. Much of the 20+ pages are an extensive unofficial addition to the rules and the official S&T response and discussion of those changes, which whole-heartedly embraced the changes! "It is a good, simple game that readily lends itself to additions." The changes "hit the proverbial nail on the head practically every time." Also included are errata from S&T 145, a brief Q&A, unofficial variants, and "Variants for Hannibal" from Moves #82.  Some to all of the bonus will be sent by email upon shipping your purchase.  All bonus and extras material are available for sale separately if requested.

Hannibal is a two-player simulation of the Second Punic War. The rules include both a basic and advanced game. The Carthaginians, under the leadership of of their general, Hannibal, marched into Italy and won several major battles. The Romans meanwhile, built up their strength and eventually counter attacked, and emerged victorious. The Carthaginians have better leaders, but the Romans have greater resources, primarily their population to build armies from. A classic illustration of the difficulty in winning a war fought on foreign soil. "An army is a fire which will burn itself out" - Art of War.
