Men at Arms is a tactical level simulation spanning 1200 to 1500 AD.  From the magazine: Players can position armies in free set ups or according to historical placements.  Combat is pretty straightforward, as movement was limited and fancy maneuvers required the presence of a leader.  Critical elements in the game are the Discipline levels of the units, which determine how quickly disrupted units can be returned to full capacity.  Disruption is the most common combat result.  Disrupted units are easier to rout or eliminate.  Each eliminated unit moves an army towards breakpoint, which causes massive disruption and, usually, destruction of that army.
